The Spotted Lantern Fly (spotted lantern guy)

Lanternflies have become a symbol for blight across the land.

Some say they are an invasive species from a far away place you've never been to.  There, they have many predators, but here they have none, and are free to swarm the crops and trees and slowly feed off their essence with little to no interruption.  But some say they were conjured by a necromancer, obsessed with rot, and things that crawl.  Conjured to ruin the livelihood of the townspeople he despises.  To turn their farms and gardens into dust for his amusement.  Reporting back to him about all of their mischief.

They don't physically devour things, but feed off their lifeforce, until they are dried up skeletal husks.  They love trees and crops and any plant, but lately there are whispers that dried up husks of cattle and sheep have been found. Those are probably just rumors.

Lantern flies are fully sentient, and capable of human speech, though they only talk about eating.  Because they are everywhere, they know a lot of information, and it's completely possible to bribe them with knowledge of new and interesting food sources.    When together, they become a swarm, acting as one to devour anything in their path, but when separated they have distinct personalities.

According to locals, you should always stomp on any lantern fly you see, and when stomped they disappear into a green puff of smoke.

Hi everyone!! Okay i cheated and based this off of a real thing. A Philly themed creature, but i think the spotted lantern fly is just the coolest looking bug!  I know it's bad and we're supposed to kill it, but it's so cool!  Really excited about how this one is going to look as a sticker!   

As i said in my last post, i think the mailbox on my block may have been broken into, because i have a bunch of missing/ not scanned in etsy stuff that i sent out along with a ton of patreon stuff (mostly affecting people in postcard tiers)!  I'm waiting a few days to make sure it's not just them being really slow, but i'm ready to send everything back out if i need to.  I'm really sorry for the delay, but i'll definitely make sure you get your things! <3
