- Foxes use the earth’s magnetic field to hunt their prey
- Vulpes Lagopus, which is the Latin name for Arctic fox, means ‘hare-footed fox’. This is due to the presence of fur on the paws, which reduces heat-loss and enables them to walk better on ice.
- Grey foxes have oval pupils instead of slit pupils like foxes in the Vulpes genus
- The Arctic fox is the only land mammal native to Iceland
- Wild arctics coat color can distinguish where they live. White ones typically are inland where they blend better with the snow and blue are coastal where they blend better with rocks.
