While she sees it as a really exciting opportunity, she also feels like she has no choice but to do it to live up to her mom's expectations. She also doesn't want to be forced to leave the place and people she loves and calls home, which is what she's lived through most of her life and doesn't want to go through again. I also think you might be underestimating Gina's feelings for Ricky... it's important to remember that he was the first friend she ever made at East High, and if it wasn't for him, she probably wouldn't have opened herself up to others. He's kind of the key to SLC feeling like a home to her to begin with, which makes him a really special person to her. Super excited for you to see the last episode!
