Abishai, continued
Added 2022-01-23 19:00:04 +0000 UTCI'm just gonna keep ranting about Abishai if y'all don't mind.
Power of the Dragon Queen on the Red Abishai is a really cool ability, only slightly held back by the fact that it's totally useless in any practical application. Is Tiamat really out here executing plans that require Wyrmlings and Young Dragons to be charmed for an hour? If not, why's an ability that's hard-countered by legendary resistances only have 3 uses? Also, why does this have any effect at all on metallic dragons? What connection does Tiamat have to them?
Also also, something feels a little off about putting Frightful Presence on a medium size creature. I always imagined that as a primal sort of fear experienced by understanding yourself as a prey animal. The Abishai might be very strong, but he kind of just looks like a regular dude, at least by the standards of D&D. Not sure how much presence he should really be able to assert.
The white abishai is just boring and lacking any sort of character. He has HP and does damage. 7/10.
The green abishai is a big step up in a lot of ways, but is a good time to note that the abishai all wield weapons that do less damage than their claws. Why bother? They tryna get their money's worth on a manicure or something?
