Personally, I think I look closer to Ellen or Elliot.
The confusion could have been simply due to my drawing similar faces, but I think it was at least partly because I just had a new avatar show up without explanation or introduction. A "is that Tedd? That's probably Tedd" response was understandable.
In any case, after I saw that response, I wanted to draw a comparison.

Personally, I think that the eyeglass frames are part of the confusion--the frames look very similar, and Dan's avatar getting unique frames would make it much easier to recognize her.

2022-04-09 19:34:20 +0000 UTCI also assumed it was the author avatar right away, but I can definitely see why some people thought it was Tedd. Tedd gets pretty creative when transforming into a fem form. If Tedd transformed into this form in the comic, I'd barely take notice.

"Gee, you know that superhero who's hundreds of moths inside a trenchcoat? What if she's actually being mentally puppeted by someone else who can mind control bugs in their line of sight?" ... This comes up more than you might think in Worm/Skitter fanfic.

(And of course it's *impossible* for one to be a robot or Batman in disguise or any of a dozen other ways Superman pulled that off.)
