Previously squads were randomly selected each day but new operating doctrine keeps them in the same squad for operations service at a sector.
4 of these squads makes a rotunda. Rotunda is meant to be referenced to how the squads were deployed.
In action rotundas were cycled by squad at objectives. For instance 1 squad engages with an enemy position until they can manoeuvre. The manoeuvre is not carried out by one squad, the 2nd squad conducts the manoeuvre while 1 squad holds.
This rotational tactics gave the term rotunda.
