The difference between Maki and Kugisaki is that regular damage can be healed by RCT but transfiguration cannot. At least as far as we know.

Sukuna is nervous before that which implies he coulnd't do it at the time before he got hit with the purple so we just gonna have assume he finally managed it when he is about to lose.

And also, Gojo died the same day as Geto did. Calling back to his ominous line when he challenged Sukuna "having two death anniversaries would be confusing."

And the Maki pull up, with her and Yuji jumpin Sukuna.... definitely another all-time favorite moment of mine. It is a shame we will probably have to wait until at least 2025 for it to be animated.
