"Charge Upfront" feature
Added 2016-07-07 18:49:15 +0000 UTCDoes anyone have a problem with the idea of paying before content is given out.
I mean, honestly, it makes 100% sense, otherwise you or anyone gets possible free content till payment goes through. the only thing is trust then is on the creator and not the payer.
just so you know i get several fake pledges a week.
Thoughts though?

I am fine with it. :3

2016-07-10 05:05:43 +0000 UTCDoesn't matter to a lot of the people who are actually here to make sure they're giving you support and not looking for free content. Likewise it matters not to me. I'm pledging because that's what I said I'd do.

2016-07-08 17:42:09 +0000 UTCI'm fine with it, because fake pledges are a thing, and I don't think fake pledgers should be getting a free ride on someone who is consistently delivering the goods.

2016-07-07 23:30:59 +0000 UTCJust commented on another thread about the idiots who drove one of my artists to distraction because it looked like almost all of their goals were met, and wound up dropping back down three levels on the first because of those arses. I had assumed that I WAS being charged up front... I know of one artist who took to hosting all of his content elsewhere to prevent that kind of chicanery who can host here because now it's a TRUE paywall. Huzzah!

2016-07-07 23:29:37 +0000 UTCI'm going to pay if it's upfront or not but it really depends on the person paying, it helps the artist in the long run so you know who's canceling the payments at the end of the month but it also could hurt the person paying since something may come up which they may need the money that was taken up front. I think alot of people are ok with the upfront payment plan anyways.

2016-07-07 22:33:29 +0000 UTCAs a person who sometimes has trouble determining the etiquette for when to unsubscribe to an account (after your payment for the prior month goes through, but before the next month's content starts going... right?) paying up front seems sensible. The only concern that comes to mind is if someone accidentally picks a higher pay bracket than intended and gets charged before they downgrade, but I imagine/hope customer support would help in that instance.

2016-07-07 22:08:03 +0000 UTCI have no problems with this. I think that's the way it probably should have been from the beginning.

2016-07-07 19:00:46 +0000 UTCI think that's the way it should be by default personally, it's just too open to abuse the way it is now

2016-07-07 18:59:31 +0000 UTCfinancially speaking, I think it depends on how many people will prefer not having to deal with up-front chargers, on the user end it's a lot easier to deal with monthly payment and I think a lot of users take that into consideration when backing someone. on the other hand, how many people take advantage of patreons really unreliable monthly payment system to get free content. personally I would say go for it.

2016-07-07 18:58:32 +0000 UTCCharge upfront makes the most sense and protects the artist from the large number of bots that patrol this site grabbing content and ditching their pledge.

2016-07-07 18:56:38 +0000 UTCI'm surprised that's just become a question for you. You must be one of the lucky ones as far as the few I'm supporting. That said I'd have no problem with it.
2016-07-07 18:56:15 +0000 UTCI think it depends on the artist, really. Some people i would trust to meet that agreement, some I would not. Regardless, I prefer the current system

2016-07-07 18:54:24 +0000 UTCI personally don't see an issue with it. Most of the patrons I support are set to pay at the start of the month.
