This was rather inconsequential in the book, as it only served to hint at nick's sexuality, but there was an implied sex scene between him and the photographer from when he got drunk left out in the movie

Personally I adored the book, but I think that a tv-show adaptation would suit the episodic nature of the book better

Hi Dominic Noble! Like the new name. I thought I was the only one who did not like this book. I had to read it when I was 16, and I could not focus on it

I never ever liked the book. Just to long of a book to read in high school.

I'm not sure that is accurate though. Politically correct has a particular meaning that indicates the use of disingenuous or inaccurate wording for the purpose of subtly misleading or distracting from the truth as a form of placation of the masses. Or perhaps just manipulating language in unnecessary ways for the same. Or the manipulation of language in an attempt to subtly manipulate political views. It's true that, when executed successfully, politically correct language can BECOME socially acceptable language, but I don't think when people refer to politically correct language initially that it always follows that it is "socially acceptable" at that time. The people advocating for the new language may believe it to be so, but society as a whole need not agree.

I absolutely love this movie. I did enjoy this book when I originally read it in high school, but upon seeing it in 2013 realized that Gatsby was a total stalker and was kind of creeped out by him. But I really enjoyed the depiction of Nick's admiration and the beautiful cinematography. So I very much agree that this is the best way to experience the text. The actors all make the characters so much more likable than they have any right to be.

Pedantry born of a personal pet peeve: The political correct thing is that of matching the words of those in political power (a.k.a currently argeeing with Trump is the politically correct thing in America), a more accurate phrase would be the socially acceptable thing (though i do grant that this phrase lost the same battle as literally).
