Good Omens, book review and adaptation predictions

Binged it last night/this morning. Really liked it.

I was watching this and my brother-in-law came in the room and after about 5 seconds he stopped and said, “Is he taking about Good Omens!?” I told him yes and when I admitted to not having read it yet, he ran upstairs to grab one of his apparently three copies of this book and gave it to me. So I guess this one just moved up on my to be read list, lol.

I love that you put footnotes on this video. I've been following the press for the show so I'd already seen Neil Gaiman talking about making the show for Terry a few times (I tear up every time). I think he just doesn't feel like being a showrunner is something he wants to do but it was the best way to get the show made the way Terry would have wanted it. I have seen a clip of the Garden of Eden scene and it's about 90% verbatim from the book. Neil has commented on some changes/additions from the book that you can find if you go digging through interviews. Overall I'm very excited for the show.

I'm likewise super excited about the show. I discovered Pratchett fairly recently, starting with Good Omens a couple years ago, but his works have actually made a positive impact for me and my dad who are now reading the Discworld novels together. They helped a couple of super non-communicative introverts find something to share together. :D But yeah, Good Omens is probably my favorite book, the show looks like it will really good, and May 31 can't come fast enough. Fun fact: in the show, Pollution is actually nonbinary rather than female, the actress is female but the character is supposed to be nonbinary. I don't know how overtly the show will state it, especially considering the official Good Omens Twitter has misgendered Pollution as female before, but Gaiman has explicitly stated more than once that Amazon's Pollution is nonbinary. I wonder if the show wants to make more mention of the fact that angels and demons are technically sexless and therefore may not exactly follow "traditional" ideas of gender. It seems like Crowley may be a bit more gender-fluid than presented in the book, I believe there's more than one screenshot of him in female garb. (Sorry for the ramble, but I find it interesting.)
