2021-05-10 17:02:30 +0000 UTCAmazing reaction, keep it up! Just a side note, this wasn't the first use of airborne troops. The Germans had them as early as 1941.The US 509th Parachute Battalion jumped into North Africa in late 1942. In July of 1943, the 82nd ABN DIV jumped on Sicily, then on Salerno in Sep of the same year. Normandy was just the biggest at its time. However, Overlord will be dwarfed later in the war. The 82nd actually made four jumps compared to the 101st two. I believe a total of less than 3,000 paras made all four combat jumps with the 82nd.

2021-05-03 16:12:57 +0000 UTCThank you for doing this mini-series! It really is one of the best shows ever made. A really cool thing about the opening credits is that every shot you see is directly from an episode of the show, so it gives you a glimpse into future episodes as well as giving you a look back at previous episodes as you go along.

2021-05-03 15:25:13 +0000 UTCI just signed on to your patreon for this also. Greatest series of all time. Keep in mind these are all real people and real events as told by these Easy Company Men. The old guys in the beginning of each episode are the actual guys being portrayed -- they won't tell you who is who until the very last episode. Enjoy!

2021-05-02 22:45:14 +0000 UTCLove this, I just signed on as a patron because I do love this show. It has a very Saving Private Ryan feel, as if it was a sequel or something but of course it's a completely true and incredible story. Btw, 506th Regiment, 101st Airborne Division is the unit the Private Ryan character was in, but B Company I think. Just a quick footnote, what you see in the first scene of Saving Private Ryan is the seaborne infantry assault they're briefing towards the end of this episode, the job of airborne infantry was to land behind the German defenses and disrupt their attempts to reinforce the beach, and if they had failed the guys Tom Hanks and them portrayed likely would have been driven back into the English Channel. In SPR you heard them mention "misdrops" a lot, well I'll leave that to the second episode to explain but I just have to give massive props to those Airborne troops for accomplishing that mission despite what an absolute cluster fuck it could have been if they weren't so able to "improvise, adapt, and overcome".

2021-05-02 05:47:54 +0000 UTCThanks Ashley! Thanks to your husband & family for YOUR service - as we both know, the whole family serves in their own way. Watching this series is hard but also really inspiring. My grandpas, uncle, father-in-law, stepdad, and my own Dad variously went to WWII, Korea, and Vietnam respectively so seeing this makes me appreciate them even more. None of them talk much at all about what they experienced in combat - particularly with Korea & Vietnam. The more modern war gets, the more "efficient" shall we say. I know they've all been traumatized by it. I marvel at the sheer bravery these guys had going into war without the modern tech, planes, vehicles, & equipment we have today. My husband/son could facetime daily from across the world like they were right next door, big difference from back then. War is so different now - in times past it was up close & personal. Today it's more technical & distant but deadlier. Always terrifying though! Again, best to you & yours.

2021-05-02 03:07:49 +0000 UTCThis is cool! Thank you for sharing! What a cool history! I’m glad you know all of that that’s very special! I married into the Marine Corps.... so that enveloped my whole life as you know! with a cousin was already in corps and a grandfather who was navy, I’d say it , helped preparing to be a sniper’s wife—- but nothing does. I find it very difficult to watch this—- a bit too close to home, but it’s so incredibly well done and if it’s traumatizing to watch it because it’s too realistic—- you know you’ve done a good job

2021-05-02 02:57:23 +0000 UTCWOW! 8th generation military/vet here. Someone in my family has fought in every US conflict since the Revolutionary War. My maternal grandfather was at Normandy; my great-uncle fought in the Ardennes at the Battle of the Bulge. Needless to say we love this show & appreciate your thanks, Nikki. I married military & have a son serving as well. So funny that throughout 2020 my deployed husband watched your channel in Afghanistan & our boy watched in Korea. Stikker fam worldwide!

2021-05-01 17:15:21 +0000 UTCTHIS IS SO FUNNY! Last night I thought to myself “I wonder if they’ll add a second show like normal or are gearing to be youtube movie focused... but BoB would be perfect time-wise right now.” Ha hilarious. Anyways....Epic, ground-breaking mini-series, that stays with you, long after the final credits roll. A classic, as is its follow up, The Pacific.

2021-05-01 14:51:03 +0000 UTCI have to admit a good 10 percent of why i like you guys is because of the on point series specific title cards Steven manages to whip up. It just looks nice.

2021-05-01 09:28:56 +0000 UTCEnjoying the post-reaction discussion. Nikki mentioning the movie where troops landed on the beach during D-Day and they get obliterated - pretty sure that was Saving Private Ryan. Speaking of which... in that movie, Matt Damon's character and his unit that Tom Hanks' squad meet up with are from the same 101st Airborne Division that we're following in the show :)

2021-05-01 09:19:00 +0000 UTCBand of Brothers is literally my favorite series of all time. I get choked up every time I watch this series and my military motivation comes flooding back to me. It gives me such great memories of my best time of my life in the US Navy. I can't wait for episode 2 hold on to your butts.
