Yes, these are dour and depressing times, but the whole point of the show is to give it a bit of humor. Enraged Felix just calls everyone pieces of shit which, yes, is true in this case, but is not very entertaining. I've actually thought about this recently and the most simplest answer is the most probable- the Dems are still playing politics like they are still in the 80, and 90's, while the Republicans are playing it like it is- politics.
