What's up everybody, Producer Chris here. A bit of a heartfelt note on this:

Myself and friend-of-the-show Dan Boeckner have been working with this new streaming platform called FRQNCY to program and produce a STREAMING MUSIC and COMEDY festival. Chapo Trap House is headlining with our friends Every Time I Die, but the lineup is full of great bands and podcast I'm extremely excited to have involved with this show. You are all required to attend.

The FRQNCY platform is an extremely cool way to remotely experience live performances. It's like a combination of Twitch & Discord, where you can log in and watch professionally shot & mixed live streaming performances and either join in through big public chat streams like Twitch, OR make private video chat groups to invite your friends into and chat with each over while watching. 

So why are we doing this? I promise this isn't some app or startup launch I'm suckering you into to. Back when we were touring last year, we kept running in to our various musician friends and I kept coming around to the idea of maybe organizing a music/podcast festival with people. Maybe to support Bernie, maybe just for fun. But COVID hit and live anything disappeared and that felt hopeless. And all live anything felt hopeless, it sucked and still sucks! But then Dan came to me with the FRQNCY team, who are also the folks who have run the great Pickathon fest out in Portland, OR for like 20 years. He brought up the festival idea we'd previously chatted about and told me they've been developing this live show streaming platform for a while. 

So it seemed obvious, we should join in. Then I actually used the platform and found it extremely dope. And THEN, we talked about wanting to do this thing in a way where we can take care of the performers and venues. And that's what we're doing. If we can make back our break-even ticket sales number, a portion of profits will be distributed back to the artists and donated to the National Independent Venues Association's Save Our Stages fund. We are genuinely trying to create a kind of co-op festival model, and I am really excited about it.

But the real buried lead here is that this is going to be very cool, very funny and very unique. I love all the acts playing. We're all performing live at the Elsewhere venue here in Brooklyn, and though there's no live audience as of now, per current COVID restrictions, we will be able to interact and hangout on a VIP stream for those who buy Backstage Tickets.

So, buy a ticket. 10 acts, $15 (for the next week, then it goes up to $20), a great deal. If this does well, we can hopefully do more. In different cities. Hopefully with live audiences as well as digital audiences. It's all independent, it's artist and venue supporting. And, it's been my baby for the last few months.

Oh, and what the other Chapos have been talking about putting together for this sounds extremely good. Not to miss!
