Folks might be happy to know that they’re now just normal liberals and they grew their first weed plants this past summer. But it took a decade to break the spell. It’s crazy how many people have never come out of it

I was like 3 when it happened and we lived in Boston but 9/11 basically caused my parents to flee the city (we weren’t even IN the actual city) to Maine. They became republicans, which lasted until Romney lost, I had to listen to Howie Carr and so much jingoistic pop country that, to this day, I still know a lot of the lyrics to those songs despite being a kid. Coincidentally enough, my mom was handing out water at the Boston Marathon when the bombing took place, it was the one year she didn’t run it herself and the bombing happened around her normal finish time.
