Not individual defiance, but pressure for institutional defiance. Obvious Brandon isn't going to do it since he's an institutionalist, but pushing, say, Gruesome Gavin to just have California ignore the court's more insane rulings or making it a litmus test for candidates. Not workable immediately, but it's certainly no less practical than blind hope in some West Wing-ian "put 15 justices on the court" kind of fantasy that will never happen.

when it blocks some insanity the next GOP president tries, you might see defiance then. how does the average citizen go about ignoring court rulings? the cops and courts are still going to enforce supreme court rulings, so not sure what defiance from John Q. Public would achieve other than going to prison. obviously the ideal is to create a movement with enough political power to make such defiance possible, but that seems pretty hopeless at the moment.

I heard on 5-4 one thing the Biden admin could have done was fast-track remove the debt in the actual system, i.e. wipe it off people's accounts rather than announce the program and wait for permission. Then it would have a different, much harder case to put the debt back. But they just aren't playing to win.
