What Subaru figured out was that Emilia was trying to scare Subaru off by presenting herself as the witch, but it went right over his head (If you rewatch, look for Puck's reaction at the name-drop as well as Emilias reaction the only time he calls her Satella in the first loop early in episode 1B). Japanese isn't really specific about who said what to who, it is very dependant on context, so the translators missed the context of Emilia trying to scare Subaru and instead went for the context Emilia trying to scare off other people for some reason..
