He just needed chakra from the Nine Tail so be able to correctly summon a toad and that's what he did at the end. Nine Tails is still sealed inside Naruto, only now Naruto himself is aware of the fact and can request a bit of chakra conciously from the fox through the seal. And I think the point Hezer made about his chakra control applies. Also as a confirmation, as I mentioned before, Nine Tails is indeed a separate entity from Naruto, that has been sealed inside of him after his birth by the 4th Hokage.

2024-08-23 19:42:55 +0000 UTCThis is where I'm not completely sure about what the situation is. I can only say for sure that all this time Naruto was only trying to summon a toad/frog. And Jiraya told Naruto to use nine tails chakra to summon the toad. I think the reason for it was that nine tails chakra is interfering with Naruto's own chakra and chakra control, so it would be difficult to use his own chakra for the summoning. Instead, Naruto needs to extract and control the nine tails chakra, and do the summoning using only the "red" chakra. That's also why he had to exhaust his own chakra to try to access the other chakra. It wouldn't change what Naruto would summon, it only affects just how much or how powerful chakra he has available for the jutsu.
