Meggido was much more brutal in the Light Novel. Rimuru would sometimes purposely avoid fatal shots but aiming for arms, legs, and torsos because causing them to suffer would create chaos within the army because of their screams and wails after basically being shot. By creating this chaos, Rimuru ensured that the army would be unable to properly react to his attack.
