Behind The Scenes: Cuban Street

After the London, New York and Rome, this is the fourth in the places series. I'm trying to avoid any kind of landmarks, I want to achieve the atmosphere of the city purely with building design choices, props and cars. For Cuba, it was kind of a no-brainer, since I knew I will include some of the iconic 50's pre-embargo cars....

Another one from the places in the world series is here with a little bit of a summer vibe. I just love the colors and vintage cars of Cuba.

 I had an idea for this ship sitting in my list for weeks, even months. Finally I was able to find some time and dig into this. It was a special case for me, because I remember a paper model of this ship all the way back in the 80's.

Galaxy Cruiser

This one is inspired by the 80's Czechoslovakian socialist comic book and yes, it was a Battlestar Galactica rip off :) But it was modified quite a bit and even made into paper craft model so nostalgia hit me pretty hard with this one :)

K.I.T.T.

This one is huge for me. Not only is the Knight Rider one of the first TV shows I remember watching (on B&W TV set), but I really enjoyed modeling and really got in the zone. Started as a low poly model and got out of hand pretty quickly :) 

I will probably continue and build a whole set for it.

Pizza Place

I had this idea for a tiny cute pizza place and I went for a more stylized approach with smooth end beveled surfaces to emphasize the toy feel.

Car Workshop

From time to time, I just like to do some theme illustration, that would fit nicely as website hero background. I went for BMW E30 and modified the shape to a more cartoon style to create a car workshop scene. What do you think?

Thor

Another hero incoming! Who else it would be, than god of thunder (not a god of hammer though). Thor is maybe my favorite character of all the Marvel universe. Maybe because I like Norse mythology too.

It's some time, since I did some isometric room design and I had an idea for a downtown design studio in my list for a while, so here it is.

Gold Mine

I'm always looking into ways, how to build up on my existing style. Might not look like it, but in terms of modeling, this is not very far from techniques I use on low poly scenes. Do you like the gold rush theme? 

What other theme would look cool in this style?

Kaer Morhen

After some request for a medieval castle or fortress, I've once again bringing back my favorite fantasy world of Witcher and made a front gate of the Kaer Morhen Castle.

Skywalker

I really like this tic tac character style, so I will probably do a lot more :) Who else should it be next, then Luke Skywalker himself. What other famous characters would you like to see done this way?

Connection

A little bit late to the party, but since I've always been a huge space nerd, I cannot let this one slip by. I gave the spacecrafts some cartoon treatment while trying to keep Dragon recognizable.

Settlers

I remember playing Settlers 2 and 3 back in the day and I always loved the designs of the various buildings and how the town grew before your eyes. I tried to capture the moment with a low poly diorama and went a bit more on details.

Rome Alleyway

Next one in the series of low poly city dioramas is an alleyway in Rome. 

Little Wizard

I've been making a little stylized character illustrations from book stories for years now and I felt like it might be the time to finally bring them to Blender. 

This particular little wizard should be easily recognized I think :) 

Turtle Van

Heroes in the hard shell! I really enjoyed making this and made the proportions true to the VW Van, so it's a bit different from the animated series, with a bit of a toy feel. All the 90's kids out there, this is for you :)

Mountain Hut

I've recreated a layout of one of my older low poly pieces with focus on adding a textures with displacement, creating a crossover between realistic and stylized.

Space

I was asked a lot of times to do some low poly space stuff and it felt a bit challenging to get the atmosphere right. 

Finally, I was able to put something together, so here's space stuff :) 

Oasis

I found myself doing a lot of blue stuff, so I tried a bit of a palette change. Sun and sand seemed ideal, so I tried to do a little sculpted oasis. 

Witch's Brew

New commentary tutorial! Let's create a witch's lair and model some stylized bulky witchcraft assets and setup a colorful EEVEE cartoon render.

Warzone

Can you guess the game? I'll give you a hint, it's very popular these days :) I wanted to go back to the roots for a second and do just a solid low poly diorama. 

Medieval Tower

After a while, it was a time for some stylized sculpting and I really love the remastered Spyro games on PS. So I tried to recreate the style and environment vibe a little bit. 

Moon Landing

It's almost a year since the 50th moon landing anniversary, so I missed a boat a little bit, but I really wanted to do a landing site illustration. I've struggled with the shape of a module, so I went for a complete cartoon representation in the end. 

Beetle Bot

After the wheel bot, I had another idea and made bot inspired a little bit by insect shape. I again used hard surface boolean and bevel techniques. Do you have some ideas for a robot? :)

Gaming Room

This is my take on a gaming room and it's probably a bit different than you'd expect :) I do occasionally enjoy a good D&D adventure or a more advanced boardgames.
