Sorry for the brief hiatus, I decided to put all of my focus on getting those commissions done. I've learned I can't really do more than one thing at a time. Well... I can... its just that the end product for all of the things I'm only partially focused on winds up being much worse.

Edit: updated with newer and more refined version. Kept the old version for the sake of comparison and posterity. Also added "desert" background.
Over the years I've picked up a lot of techniques from other artists that I've tried to implement in every single piece I do and I think that has made my work worse....
BG and No BG I initially thought I'd do a Cel shaded version of this, but as the render went on I decided to do the soft rendering style. The Client had a very specific lighting and pose request and I attempted my best to approximate it.

I'm going back and forth as to how to render this. Cel shade or soft render. Here's where I'm at with it. I'm taking the cel shading as far as I can, and then if I decide to go soft I can convert it pretty easily. There's just something about the harsh shadows that fits art inspired by Castlevania better.
