Remember the small test/warm-up from 2 months ago? Still (very) slowly working on it.
Be patient with this one, it's gonna be a pretty long one.

Say hi, Mimi! – Making of

Hey guys.
Just finished a making-of for Say hi, Mimi.
I'll probably post it tomorrow, after I check if I've made a mistake in the credits or misspelled a word.

2nd Blender test – DONE

2nd Blender test is complete.
The only thing left before making it public are descriptions and subtitles.

2nd Blender test – Final Render

Finally, after 44 hours with Cycles, final render is done.
Now all that's left are minor effects in compositing, some minor color grading, and most importantly, audio!
At least I'm done with Blender at this stage of production (maybe with the exception of quick AOV renders).

2nd Blender test – Final 2D Facial + Extras

Ok, from the looks of it, the Grease Pencil implementation seems to be a resounding success.

So yeah, definitely putting this project on my channel. For that I've also added extra stuff around it for context (along with a single sound clip).

Now what's left is rendering, compo and sound design.

Managed to add bones to the hairs. Not perfect, but definitely good enough for this test.
Hair animation is fully hand made: no physics.

Making-of for both Spline and Polish passes, sped up roughly 10 times.
Total duration: 9 hours

Now the real challenge begins: on top of making the facial animation with Grease Pencil, I'll also have to rig the hair strands in order to animate them (and maybe add some physics). I won't record those processes since th...

But before doing the 2D facial with Grease Pencil, I need to do something about those pesky hairs. They're not rigged so I guess I'll have to do it myself........ This is going to be fun.

Still trying to figure out the layout since I'm using 2 screens to work in Blender.

Sniper's Moonshine - 2D Shots and VFX Making-of

Software used: TVPaint Animation 11.5 (animation), Adobe After Effects CC 2022 (compositiong)

2D Shots Making-of (10, 11 and 12), along with all the other VFX (mainly liquids) used for Gmod shots, and some terrible voice acting outtakes.

1-2 weeks total work (so roughly 30-40% total time spend on the project for...

I also think this is one of my favorite shots in Gmod (to the point where I'm under impression that I half-assed shot 8 (the one before with sniper's rant), despite being much longer and featuring multiple characters).
