A beautiful day outside!

Rachael Padilla post A beautiful day outside! from patreon

I took a few minutes to walk without my mask on.  I was away from everyone else, and at a safe distance.  The old style neon signs in this neighborhood were beautiful, and I wanted to share them here.  This is a public post, and there is much more to see behind the paywall.  If you can sign up to be a patr...

Thank you all.

Rachael Padilla post Thank you all. from patreon

I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you.   You people, my supporters, are the only reason that I can continue on my creative journey.  I'm sure that if I didn't have your support I could do a project here and there, or try to make myself heard once in a while, but your support is what makes me feel invinc...

Hydrangeas and reclining nude. I took a break from the serious work to have some fun with color! I stayed away from black, as I usually do. In lieu of black I used dark green with blue and purple. I enjoyed the juxtaposition of the dark with the bright greens, peach and pale purple.

Continuing my study of depicting major life events in an ancestral style. This one's going to be tough! Partly due to the small scale, and partly due to the massvieness of the subject matter. More on the subject matter as it comes to life...

Rachael Padilla post I Didn't Stop Traffic (*quite) from patreon

I took just a moment to show a corner of one of my favorite neighborhoods! The Junkman's Daughter used to be a first rate second hand store! Now they sell a wide range of unique merchandise, it's still a really fun place to stop when I'm in the area! And they're always glad to see me.

Still hot in the shade.

Rachael Padilla post Still hot in the shade. from patreon

I went out to a walking trail in the woods that I thought would be cooler.  I was wrong!  It is scorching out!  Luckily for me I live in a free and open society where a woman has all of the same rights as a man and she can take off her top without fear of arrest. . . The heat must be getting to me.  I almo...

A time lapse of my progress so far on the prepared panel. It's a challenge learning to paint in a different style, but I think that my personal flare is still coming through! Which is the whole point: being able to change things enough to emulate a style but still staying true to me.

Hispanic Folk Art

Rachael Padilla post Hispanic Folk Art from patreon

I've made a lot of references to historic Hispanic Folk Art lately. I wanted to share visually what I've been talking about.  These are all images from a book called, "New Kingdom of The Saints" (Religious Art of New Mexico 1780-1907).  It's a very thorough book, containing so many images of santos (a term used only...

"Wild". Another short film.

Rachael Padilla post "Wild". Another short film. from patreon

I was about eight years old at a zoo nestled on and throughout the side of a mountain. It was a beautiful place. But I recall clearly how at the time, the big cats were kept in cages. Real cages, with bars. Not habitats as they now have at the same zoo. I watched the cats with some amount of anxiety as they prowled, back and ...

Some background information

Rachael Padilla post Some background information from patreon

My most inspired pieces of art, I feel, are like visual representations of my personal diary.

"Burn it All", pictured here with detail images, was one of my first deeply personal works. It marked a time that I wanted to document. At the time, I thought of how farmers sometimes have to burn their fields when...

If a nipple could dream of freedom, what would that look like?

This is another in my short film series.  I think that it's fun in tone and I know that it was fun to make.  I hope that everyone finds it entertaining, and maybe thought provoking.  Thanks for watching!

Rachael Padilla post 5 Days of Pleinair (pictured in order from day 1 to 5) from patreon

Pleinair painting is, simply put, painting outdoors. In the 19th century, it became really popular with the Impressionist movement. Like Van Gogh or Monet, for example.

I thought this would be an interesting challenge for me. It was!

The challenges:<...
