I picked a new spot too paint today! It included the amaranth which had a lovely glow in the morning light!

A different point of view today. I thought I would take refuge in the shade of a big oak tree. I learned a few things from this decision, though. First, being in the shade caused my camera to focus on the lovely light beyond the canvas, so my painting is out of focus. Day two of my painting exercise was a bit sunnier! As a result there was a much more vibrant color palette. I hope you are all having a wonderful week!

Pleinair Day 1

It didn't turn out exactly as planned, but I got out in the open air and did some painting! There are added challenges to painting in this way, and I talk about some of them. I have 4 more canvases prepared for this exercise, and if the weather forecast proves true, tomorrow should be sunny and clear!

On the easel

Early morning. I tend to miss a lot of them. Fortunately, I didn't miss this one! The light was so beautiful that I had to catch a few photos if it. The cows were pretty content on their grazing and had no idea they were the subject of my photos. Now they're the subject of my painting, too!

I didn't get kicked out of the airport.

When I go out to film, it doesn't always work out. I was prepared for a long(er) walk at the airport. What I hadn't anticipated was an employee pulling into the parking lot. I felt kind of bad, as it didn't really seem that either of us wanted to interfere with what the other was doing, but it did cut my walk short. In these ...

Final piece.

Here's a look at the final results from my butt painting experiment. It was fun to do, and I think it looks great, however it's probably not something that I'll ever do again. Enjoy!

Shooting my bow.

I shot some footage of myself shooting at the target.  I then used the same footage to practice again with my video editing software.  I hope that you enjoy this fun experiment!

Kicking off Monday! Continuing with drawing, I used the metal vases from last week. This time sketching with graphite. I'm excited about making progress with my sketches, being able to create in a variety of mediums is important to me!

Hot air ballooning!

I went out to crew for some hot air balloons this morning.  It was a beautiful and hot morning, full of excitement, adventure, and champagne!  I hope that you are all having a wonderful Sunday!

The painting is definitely getting the much needed depth. From where I stood to take the photo to the mountain range is a distance of about thirty miles! I haven't seen this view in person for a long time. But I feel as if the colors, space and light of my home are permanently tattooed on my mind's eye.

Working on a new painting! It's a landscape from where I grew up! Northern New Mexico is full of breathtaking views and so much space!

I set up a still life today! It's not something that I've actively practiced since college, but it's a great way to improve skills!
