I really like how this page turned out. The perspective, the expressions, even the blood spittle, lol. Also, I'm not sure if it's a common trick (I don't really read graphic novels), but I put the coach's speech bubble behind Nes to make it feel like Nes is ignoring him. I hope it came off that way?

The first of two posts today! Enjoy!!

And here's the sketch! This took me a few days or so to really get it down properly. It wasn't constant work - the brunt of the work was the first day, where I did the whole sketch, but it didn't feel right to me after drawing for a few hours. So I came back a few times ...

The hardest part of this page was preserving the sense of action of motion when adding actual linework to this. I kind of impressed myself with this since I pumped this out initially in like five minutes or so, and actions poses aren't my forte.

Now he can look annoyed at an even bigger size. :]
As I mentioned in my other post, I accidentally added in the straps by accident. So, patrons, enjoy this secret extra version I guess, haha.

Steam is always fun to sketch - I just wish I could do it as well in color. xD
Also, this is my first multiple image post! The commissioner asked for this straps and bow/arrows not be part of this image, so I removed them. But, enjoy these two versions - choose your favorite I guess! X3

Page 11 will be out Friday evening for Tier IV and V patrons! Page 10, as all of you saw, will be out publicly on DeviantArt, Tumblr and Twitter. :)
I don't have an ETA when the next page will be out after this one, but I'm hoping next Friday. I have a ton of work to do though so a delay might happen. We'll see!

This was the original sketch! I was going to post it like this, but then decided it was worth coloring in the end. :P

And here's the wolf lady, at the highest res possible! If you zoom in close you can see all the little tricks I do at the micro level of the painting to create a sense of detail when viewed at a more typical resolution. :3
I'm super happy with how this turned out, in many areas. I love painting forest environments like ...

Here is the color blocking stage that I always do to preview the colors before I begin painting! I also use this to form a color palette for me to sample from, just like a traditional painter would have. :3

At the time I'm scheduling this post, I still haven't gotten final approval for the painting so I can post it. If this is up before the actual painting is out... consider this an early special preview for you patrons! haha.

This wasn't hard to draw in thumbnail form, but really hard in sketch form, lol. Also there's a big gap there because I kept writing and rewriting the dialogue. I couldn't get it to sound right after quite a few passes. Finally I settled on what you guys saw, but splitting the inner monologue into three separate speech bubble...

I was given some creative direction on his colors, but turns out it wasn't quite what the commissioner had in mind. That, however, wasn't a bad thing! He says he enjoyed what I made more, so it all worked out in the end. :3

Here's the first page in the graphic novel, at 3000x3000! As I said before, I'm only going to be releasing a small amount of pages at full-res so they don't get printed without my permission, but I hope you enjoy this one. :3

I had to redraw the panther dude a few times, because he didn't look quite right based on the thumbnail sketch I did for him. It didn't translate into a detailed version as well as I had hoped - but, it gave me the excuse to draw him bigger in the frame and therefore look more imposing!

I originally went with a typical "DING DING" sound effect, but I changed it as I thought it sounded a little too generic!
