Upcoming videos

peaktorque post Upcoming videos from patreon

The next couple of videos are queued and should be uploaded here first. One is an aero test of the rim VS disc bike (TCR) and the other is an aero/Crr test on 28 vs 32mm tyres. These topics are in heated and contentious debate within the industry, but my findings put the differences into context... the results were very consi...

Head unit review

peaktorque post Head unit review from patreon

I honestly am impressed with this little unit - I don't think i could justify the spend on a 1030 or 1040. This does everything i need it to! This video will be going live on youtube in the coming days. Cheers guys.

Myself and other cycling CMEs

peaktorque post Myself and other cycling CMEs from patreon

Whether I like it or not, I am now part of the cycling media. Lets call all these outlets CMEs (Cycling Media Enterprises). I've plotted myself and some others on this position map. The green marker is where I want to get to, the holy grail. Is it attainable? (LR doesn't deal with tech, but have added him for context). <...

The new FS aerobar

peaktorque post The new FS aerobar from patreon

I've been trying to get hold of one of these for ages to test, and voila. Here we go, finally an aerobar with horizontal drops and a shape that matches my favourite round bar (the cheapo FSA omega compact). Will it be faster? Or does a round bar pre trip and slow down the freestream hitting the rider...

Aero diary #6: shallow wheels going fast

peaktorque post Aero diary #6: shallow wheels going fast from patreon

This was my first couple of tests on the ican 35s. The cheapest and shallowest wheels on the test so far. They were pretty damn fast for a shallow wheel. Soon I'll start posting up all the data on a graph updated on a rolling basis.

No changes to kit or equipment. Just testing different pressures to nail down the Crr map.

Pretty compelling given the price of 655 USD. Only question mark is the hub durability.

A break from the monotony of aero testing

The very pedally but fast trail center of Llandegla, north Wales. A good day out and a good fitness test.

Would wide and deep mean slower again?

peaktorque post Would wide and deep mean slower again? from patreon

This day was interesting, basically 0 yaw and very repeatable, ideal conditions. The wider rims....well they were slower last time at high yaw despite being 69mm deep. I have more testing to do to confirm this, but on the same tyres, they were slower. If you have a smooth tarmac surface, go narrower rims and high pressures. T...

First look at the new Ascent Polaris wheels.

peaktorque post First look at the new Ascent Polaris wheels. from patreon

Hambini hates this brand, but I've had OK experiences with the 69mm versions which im currently doing aero testing on. They are a little expensive but in my opinion they are built and laced nicely.

Initial Aero testing with the pitot tube

peaktorque post Initial Aero testing with the pitot tube from patreon

Hi guys. Just a quick update on the Aero testing. I've been doing some baseline comparisons with the same position, equipment, and test protocol to get an idea of how stable the CdA figures are from the AeroLab tech sensor in different wind conditions. This night was extremely gusty from a True Wind Angle (TWA) of about 90 de...

Coming to the channel soon, a whole host of Crr and Aero tests. Hopefully the resolution and reliability will be good enough for some really meaningful results.
