The great Japanese director Akira Kurosawa basically designed his iconic samurai films as if he were Japan's John Ford. The great master Orson Welles once said "I prefer the old masters, by which I mean John Ford, John Ford and John Ford." The Searchers is the ideal place to start. Stagecoach, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance and My Darling Clementine are also mandatory Western classics and for his best film that isn't even a Western (though...sort of), I also recommend The Grapes of Wrath.

I just realized the other day a big reason I like your channel is that you hardly do any comic book movies or shows. I appreciate the variety your selection and it feels like you actually put some thought into what you react to.

Speed is great, one of the best 90s action moves, and the 90s probably was the best decade for action movies (thanks to all the Die Hard influenced movies). Agree that Speed 2 is terrible, has nothing really to do with the first one, just a bad movie trying to cash in on the brand name.

2022-05-21 20:54:42 +0000 UTCBeautiful, great week ahead! 1) BLOWN AWAY (1994 Jeff Bridges, Tommy Lee Jones, Forrest Whitaker) was also a great movie, much more serious, about explosives, I personally feel its even better than SPEED, the problem was it came out only a couple months after Speed so it kind of got ignored. It'd be nice to see a react to that. 2) YOUNG GUNS 1 & 2. So many great westerns but you gotta experience Billy the Kid, the biggest outlaw of the old west. Both films are great. It's one of those where the sequel is just as good as the 1st film, if not better. Classics. Soundtrack great too.
