VFX Breakdown: Polyfjord Headquarters

A sci-fi building and a flying car composited on real footage!

I've worked a few days on this scene, but decided the workflow might end up being too comprehensive for a short tutorial. Therefore I thought it would be great to do a VFX breakdown instead! So if this format works out and is interesting to watch, I'll be happy to do more of it for other projects.

This video is also a way of me dipping my toes into doing compositing workflows, so I'll carefully read the comments and get inspired to do a proper compositing tutorial in the future! I promise!

This was a fun one. I always learn more by just doing enjoyable projects. :)

Hey Darren!! Great suggestions, thanks so much!! I really enjoy jumping from project to project, so I've been hesitent on creating a long series where each episode is dependent on the previous one. It would be a great way to get views, but I could end up working too long on what feels like the same video. However, I've started planning more of an anthology like tutorial series, where all episodes will cover different parts of the same topic, but can be watched in any order. I think this would make me feel less bound to planning a comprehensive chain of events over multiple videos, while keeping the 'YouTube-algorithmic' advantages of being a video series. I think this still could allow me to go in-depth about topics i really care about. So far all Polyfjord Tutorials have been made available for free on YouTube, and it seems like this is a sustainable model for me. It's very important to me that education should be free, so my goal is to work towards keeping all my tutorials free for everyone forever! Thanks for the great comment!! - Asbjørn

Love it. I'd love to see a full on multi-part tutorial. Perhaps 6-10 parts or more to achieve a final result like this. I have greatly enjoyed Blender Guru's all famous donut tutorial series with multiple sections etc. The end result is so rewarding and each achievement along the way is great. Blender 3.0 will definitely help with reduced render times too. I was also thinking that you could possibly make the tutorial series available for free on YouTube, but have assets etc. only available here on Patreon. Then you could even create a Reddit subreddit for Polyfjord where people can share their creations.
