Animated creature rigs from my latest tutorial!

Hey!! 

I've finally made a proper tutorial again, and this time we're making two different rigs in Blender! One is a six-legged creature, and the other is a walking hand creature.

The rigs included in this post are the same as the ones in the tutorial, and they also include the animation I made for the cinematics. The IK setup is quite powerful and very responsive, so try and select the core bone and play around with it! And feel free to delete all the keyframes and animate a walk cycle with the IK controllers - it can be surprisingly tricky at first, but very rewarding to see something come to life.


The hand rig is probably not the best if you want to use it as an actual hand, but I think it's an excellent starting point for making a walking hand creature. I can recommend making the thumb bones a bit longer if you want to make it easier to walk with!

My plan is to polish these rigs a bit more, and then add them to the Mechanical Creature Kit with all the metal parts as seen in the tutorial cinematics. They will be included in a free update (v1.1), which is scheduled for January 2023.
