2016-11-07 19:46:26 +0000 UTCFirst, do you feel what the Animorphs did was in anyway realistic given their age, circumstance, background and powers? I know that the books have a lot of silly / unrealistic elements and I know that YA fic with YA protagonists will often exaggerate the abilities of said protagonists to make the books more relatable and engaging, but I've always wondered if the Animorphs could pull off their victory in a more real world setting. Real world means that the "silly" stuff from the books wouldn't happen, the Eliminist might still be around helping them out and the Yeerks could still be moderately incompetent. What chance would you give a real world group of Animorphs in defeating the Yeerks and if their chances are low, how far into the series do you think they would get before being defeated? Second question is related to the first. I read the books when I was in my last two years of High School and I related to the Animorphs as being in middle or high school by the way they generally acted and functioned (ages 14-18). However I think they actually started off younger, like 12 or 13. Do you think the Animorphs characters are acting above their age? I remember how immature 6th graders felt and continue to feel to me compared with even 7th through 9th graders and I'm wondering if KA spotted them a few years on the maturity scale. Third question is if you think the Animorphs scenario would be remotely possible in our age of ubiquitous surveillance? When everyone is equipped with an HD video camera and internet access, it seems unlikely that the lid could ever be kept on a Yeerk style invasion. Moreover, do you feel that one reason Animorphs has not been mined for a reboot is because Animorphs is locked into a pre-camera phone world can't be updated?
