While it might have seemed to the general public that Doctor Who was good and dead, a group of dedicated writers, some from the show's past, some from the show's eventual future, decided it was up to them to keep Doctor Who alive.
They call this period in Doctor Who's history the Wilderness Years. It's time to cross that wilderness.
