"My Shot" from Hamilton [UNEDTIED]

So happy to be continuing my collab with Mortius AND bring Hamilton the CF Reacts! :)

And then the sly response at 7:05 to say Aaron Burr would Wait For It - for the opportunity to be perceived as part of an already winning team. 😆

6:35 Mortius' brain plays "'Since when are you a Democratic Republican?' 'Since being one put me on the up-and-up again.'"

So I think it's important to note that Lafayette's name is Marie-Joseph Paul Yves Roch Gilbert du Motier de La Fayette. Marquis de La Fayette is his title, not his name. He was a French nobleman, and Marquis is a title, like a Baron or a Count. He is also the hero of two worlds, known for his freedom fighting in both the American Revolution and the French Revolution. He's not a founding father because I believe he was pretty much military only, but in America he's pretty much just below the Founding Fathers in prestige. I grew up in Louisiana, and he's really big there. Not so much in the Midwest, but the Midwest isn't exactly super obsessed with the Revolutionary War like other parts of America.

How many times have I watched this reaction already?

Better than a drinking game. We’d be dead.

On Mortius’ Patreon channel. Eventually they’ll be on YT.

So like... where's the rest of this? This isn't the first song from Hamilton so i was just wondering what's going on?

petition to start a 'like' counter for mortius lmaooo

I've been obsessing on Hamilton and Lin Manuel Miranda since 2016... Feels like I have a Hamilton's song or verse related to every memorable/important moment of my life since then. To the point that I tattooed a verse from My Shot in my left arm. Sooooooo happy you're jumping on this bandwagon!!!! Fun fact: Both JRH and LMM are from Puerto Rico... Jorge is born and raised in PR and Lin is born in NY from puertorican parents but had a strong connection with his roots and spending his holidays in PR with his gandparents throughout childhood...

I feel like we're gonna get a specific one a lot if the first ones are anything to go by🤣🤣

everyone take your bets now on how many times Mortius is going to make a particular reference before we get to the relevant song (we’re up to 2 already)

I always have to explain that I did not like football until Denmark's dream run for euros in 2020 - I only "took" city bc Haaland had memes blowing up which I found funny AND Pep was a name everyone knew because of his Barcelona run. Knew nothing about how good they were I just kinda said "oh neat they're light blue asw, that's my club" hahaha

Love the City analogy... as a city fan from the 90s I get the "glory hunter" issue for newer fans (and honestly we always accused utd fans of being glory supporters)

DnD Addict

haha it's EPIC all over again :DD thank you!

The characters in reality met slowly over years. The first was Hercules Mulagan, almost certainty I spelt that wrong. Also at the end he mentioned Act 2 epic news So far all we know (that is spoiler free) is that for the first saga of Act 2 Jay plans for it to come out by the end of year, sooner rather than later hopefully Edit: this was before the trailer was even announced

Good insight. Like most musicals, each character has unique musical themes. They also have particular styles of singing or rapping. It helps keep the characters separate, especially when just listening to the cast album. Alexander Hamilton is based on Eminem, Big Pun and Rakim. It helps establish his character as a wordsmith. The first couple songs are specifically easy to listen to. They introduce long time musical theater audiences to the hip-hop and rap aspects of the work. And introduces rap fans to the theater conventions. After everyone is level set, the rhythms get more complex. And Lafayette changes over the first act as he becomes more important to the revolution. This work feels like Shakespeare to me. It’s not too hard to catch on to. But it’s deep enough to stand up to detailed analysis. I’m so looking forward to this. Thanks for taking the plunge.

Ms. Chuck Terry

Never apologise for referencing Epic, I actually really appreciate the insight ✨️

Lafayette isn't necessarily a Founding Father, but we Americans do pretty much revere him to the point that there are several places/streets etc named after him in his honor in the 13 original colonies. He's pretty important to USA history for reasons you'll see later in the show and was probably better know than Hamilton before Lin made the musical.

Mortius using references you couldn't possibly understand yet is killing me! 😆🩷 Great video!
