2025-07-04 09:05:10 +0000 UTCI hope you will continue with the show. I will say that the show does take a turn as the seasons progress but I would say it's for the better. Season one is fine but a lot of the episodes are basic 'slice of life' stories. Not bad really, but to adults they might seem a little predictable in plot. Season two however is when things got more interesting and it became harder to tell just where some stories would go. And things actually got fairly interesting as the characters developed unique quirks and nuances to the personalities that gradually developed them beyond the steriotypes they started as. The series lated nine seasons, one TV special, one movie, and an entire spinoff series called "Equestria Girls". So the world was quite elaborate. And don't feel embarassed to enjoy it. I'm turning 40 this November and I'm still a major fan of the show. ;-) One last thing I'd mention is keep an eye on background characters in the show. In later seasons they slipped in some really fun cameos of 'ponyfied' characters. And some origional background characters became fan favorites. In the party scene of the very first episode you can see a grey pegasus female with a blond mane and tail with an animation error of her eyes looking different directions. Fans picked her out and dubbed her Derpy Hooves. And in later episodes she became something of an easter egg hidden in certain scenes. There's a whole controversy around her too. Hasbro even namedropped her in a later episode, "The Last Roundup", and apparently some parents complained so they redubbed the scene removing her name. (Personally I like Derpys voice in the redubbed version but I like Dash's delivery in the origional. Check both out if you get there.) I'm a bit tight on funds, but I'll try to stick around if you plan on continuing the show. ^_^ Hoping to see more in the near future.

They're sapient too, the guards who flew Twilight and Spike in just didn't have any vocalized lines. And I've seen the series premiere probably six times by now all the way through, but I still found myself laughing along with you. Thanks for reacting! And yes, please more MLP! Season 3, Season 5, and Season 9 finales can all work as an ending for the show. I was working on marking which episodes are must-watches to understand the plot if you only wanted to watch those and the songs, but even then each season is roughly about the length of a movie or musical. And that's not even getting into the Equestria Girls spin-off that has some of the best bangers of Gen4, or fan-content (I'd be highly interested to see your take on Jyc Row's Infinite Eclipse, but that diverges from canon in like Season 7)

Make sure to go in with the right expectations, the show is mostly episodic with only rare through lines which mostly consist of a few episodes a season (and the premieres/finales also have bigger stories usually) The strengths of this show (aside from music and animation) really lie in the lovable characters and interesting world building. It's true that a lot of people consider S3 to be a cut off (it was expected to be the final season by the people working on it for a while iirc!) but I think the seasons after also have a lot of great stuff (although ofc by the time we got season 9 it was clear they needed to end it and they were running out of ideas but god that finale still makes me cry every time I watch it,,,) I also hope you'll consider doing more reactions to fan works! There are so many amazing ones

If ur going down the “kids shows that are surprisingly good” path, one of my fav shows is the new She-Ra. It’s quite a bit older in theme to MLP, but deliiiightfully queer and the last season slaps so hard.
