That Christmas - AniMat's Reviews

I’ve reviewed Christmas films before, but this time, I’m looking into the movie that’s about That Christmas. In this review, I’ll be analyzing the next Holiday feature form Netflix as we see how the troubling town of Wellington on Sea handles a holiday season with a lot of problems. And yet, some of those problems even cause the movie itself to be not as merry as it hoped to be.

I guess Klaus is not gonna be beat anytime soon

I never had any interest in seeing this film and seeing your review, I don’t think I’m missing out on much. Yet I never realized this film was going to have way too many subplots and characters. That’s definitely one element with the film I never expected to be a thing and also be another major contributing factor to the film’s flaws. And from the way you described the issue in this review, I think even I would have a similar confusing experience in keeping up with all the subplots and characters and random jumping between each subplot. At least Sing, despite also have many characters and subplots, was easy to follow.

Couldn’t have said the last part better myself. I’d rather stick with Arthur Christmas and Klaus than watch this.

It ma not be bad like the Jim Carry Grinch, but it’s certainly no Elf.

This was a really informative review.

Yeah I can’t but having same experience with you Mat because I do find this movie a forgettable animated Christmas movie despite being brought to us by Locksmith Animation. I think it tries to Love Actually but for families with the similar subplots going on all over except the characters weren’t not charming or interesting or even have the heart put into it. So with the dysfunctional story, bland characters, weak direction, poor writing, unfunny humor, and generic themes, I end up finding this movie mediocre. At least it was barely saved thanks to the animation, a few heart moments, and voice acting to say it not a waste of time. Personally, I think people should just stick to either Klaus or Arthur’s Christmas if they want their feel good Christmas animated movies for this Christmas. Not terrible, but very forgettable at best.

I honestly didn’t really have much interest in watching this movie and after watching this review I don’t think I’m missing much, while the animation is nice, the story just feels all over the place and there are way too many characters with not much to them, so overall this wasn’t the best. And it honestly is kinda disappointing how Netflix’s output of animated films this year hasn’t really been great where they can range from decent at best with stuff like Ultraman Rising, to being flat out garbage at worst with stuff like Spellbound and Saving Bikini Bottom the Sandy Cheeks movie, here’s hoping that Netflix’s animated offerings in 2025 are better.
