jackson practice + dads backstory

i had to draw moira's other dad before he comes up in the comic! it's been a super long time since i originally conceptualized him alongside danny, and i needed to adjust him to have more realistic proportions and defining features.

we don't learn a ton about moira's parents in the comic - MAYBE in the post-chapter character minis, though i wont be able to fit a lot into the 4-panel format.

 long story short: jackson only had a high school education for a long time and was mostly doing construction and other grunt work. there's a time where he worked with a logging company, and he meets danny when a conservation group was holding a protest to protect a large swath of trees. danny works (or worked? not decided yet) as a teacher. jackson ends up asking danny why he and the group are so invested in protecting that area, and he gets really invested when danny starts explaining the ecology of the ecosystem, why it's important to conserve the species there, etc... 

idk how that situation ultimately shakes out, but a few years later, jackson happens to see and recognize danny in a cafe or something and runs in to join him. he tells danny about how he got really interested in science and specifically arborology after they met! so he found a way to go to collage to start studying and maybe get a job in the field. danny is really charmed and happy for him for going back to school, and offers to help him and give advice if jackson ever needs it! they start meeting and talking regularly after that~ 

i don't have any concrete idea of their ages, but there'll probably be a bit of a gap with danny being older. i imagine he'd been a teacher for at least a good 5 years before he and jackson first met. 

jackson is just a bit banged up! broken nose and missing tooth. i think the nose is from an accident, but idk what yet. the tooth might have been lost in a fight, but jackson's not really a fighter! so it might've been him standing up for/protecting danny, maybe? that's gay! we'll see if i ever settle on concrete incidents.
