REACTION to NCT DREAM - HOT SAUCE ALBUM

Comments

Thank you for your reaction!! I really love this album, more than I’ve ever loved Dream’s albums before. (I loved some songs immensely, but usually not, like, THE WHOLE album.) Usually, music-wise, other units are my favorites, but it’s somehow just been sooo easy to just listen to this album on repeat the past weeks hahaha. Historically Dream’s sound has been on the “chiller” side (and I prefer songs that go harder and if they’re slow, then at least in minor), but idk, this time it’s like… both chill AND fun to listen to? Maybe I’m just in the right mood, but it’s like — even songs I maybe wouldn’t really… listen to many times on their own, work for me in the context of the album! A lot of people found things to compare to Hot Sauce — my friend (who’s Mexican and loving this comeback haha) recalled a Mexican popular song with a similar refrain lmaoo, but I think the one you’re thinking about is Chacarron! (someone made a comparison video here lol https://twitter.com/azurjoon/status/1391055438125338625) I think you’re right on point about pre-chorus (and often bridge, too) in SM songs often sounding very different. And in fact, if you look at the credits of their songs, especially title tracks, there’s often A LOT of producers and composers listed — and partially it’s because sometimes those might have been, originally, different songs that were put together… Not to mention quite a few of them were born at songwriting camps SM holds, where it makes sense to get very different parts together into one song. I think that’s a big part of the reasons I love the SM sound a lot — because it’s never boring :D and yet (most of the time), it fits and flows together even if at first it’s like WHAAAAT. They have done this with SHINee earlier (the way Why So Serious has a complete key change in the chorus…..), but yeah NCT is the one where they properly leaned into this and I’m all for that. I’m there with you on the “weird sounds” too, haha, I think those kind of things really add to the ~flavour~ of a song! NGL i laughed when I saw your ranking bc mine is almost the exact opposite — I think Countdown is, very expectedly for my general taste, my fave, along with Hot Sauce. But I do adore a lot of the other ones, including Dive Into You, My Youth, ANL, Rocket, Diggity… pretty much every song! as I said, I just loop it without skipping hehe. Thanks for the reaction!

honestly my favorite when i first heard the album was rainbow but ANL is my fave now (which was actually my least fave when i first heard it lol) nct tends to do that to me... dream was my least favorite unit at the beginning and now theyre my favorite. funny how that works

Ary

i still have no idea what my favorite is, but i knew irreplaceable was going to be yours xD i love how the rapping/vocals blended together in this album. it definitely felt like a more vocal heavy album, but i go back and listen and realize there are more rap parts than i thought, they just meshed so well with the vocals and the usual major vibe difference between the rap and vocal parts was almost non-existent. and i loved hearing the rappers get their vocal shine as well, it was so beautiful. my current aoty tbh

Cam C.

i saw spanish speaking fans say that the voice in hot sauce says "menea para abajo" or something like that

Melina W

loved this album! my favorites would have to be countdown (3, 2, 1), dive into you & my youth 👌🏻 haechan was really flexing his vocals in irreplaceable

Victoria

For Rocket and Countdown (3,2,1)- that producer tag is Moonshine! They also helped produce Diggity
