Just simple ol’ Nationalism basically. they’ve refused the dictates of transnational and globalist forces so far, that trend just continued and intensified. They’ve both come so close to being kicked out of the EU multiple times and they’ve backed each other up time and time again. They’ve had a very long running friendship, just look at the history between their two nations. The idea is that when the U.E. was really putting the pressure on them individually, it only pushed them closer together.

Soft power is certainly how the U.E. came to its position of Full-spectrum dominance, though now they do boast a powerful military presence, initially it was as you said, through the subversion of cultural institutions, the control of information and through economical domination of the world market. I actually need to update this old map with new information and borders, but that’ll have to wait on the back burner while I work on Volume two of Humanity Lost. Yes it is as you said, the U.E. Has a very neutral and secular culture, but that can be said to be the united earths aesthetic. It is completely universalist and therefore has no clear identity of its own. Meanwhile, the remaining nations embrace their heritage and tradition whole heartedly, Japan Is extremely Japanese, what’s left of India is extremely Hindu, so on… it’s a reaction to the globalising forces of the U.E. Many of these nations that remain had their start in extremist terrorist identity movements that while they could not threaten the U.E. Militarily, the U.E. Thought it best to contain them on their native lands whilst making huge land grabs elsewhere through other means. This isn’t the case for all non-U.E. territories though. Places like the Texas are based upon opposing cultural values. some nations were founded upon an appeal to the human right of the right to self determination, whereby the U.E. Took pity on a people and allowed them to exist in a diminished and unthreatening form. There’s a whole list of events that I’d really like to put into a dedicated in-universe history book, it’ll happen eventually 🤞🏻. Information on the alien species and cultures of the Orion arm will be included in Volume one of Humanity Lost in the back matter and in-between issues when it’s published, that’s something that I plan to do. You hit the nail on the head there, there is no free flow of information in and out of the U.E., much like modern day states.

Since the UE seems to project a lot of soft power, I would imagine that they surviving free nations of Earth must do a lot to distinguish themselves from UE culture. I'm thinking of your more recent posts showing the kingdom of doggerland equipment, troops, and map which seem to draw heavily of North Sea and Germanic mythology and aesthetics, as opposed to the UE which seems to have a very vanilla, secular, corporate culture and aesthetic. Also, while you can't really be sure what people want, the UE seems like the type of place that I would hate to live in, having the worst parts of modern western culture taken to its extremes. Are any of the other countries on earth better for their average citizen. I would understand that the UE would never share that information with its own citizens, probably would call it "fake news" or "misinformation", but were any places actually decent places to live with actual rights and freedoms? I would love to have a travel guide or encyclopedia for your world, both the pre-allmother earth and the current galactic cultures!

Right? I love the fact that they didn't even had to changed their flag, just stayed the same true and through xD I also laughed at that I found my home country Poland on this map. As I was glancing at it I thought 'I'll be surprised if Poland ain't gonna be there' :D

Yeah, brave new world is a pretty good analogy for it! The U.E. Is pretty indifferent to them at this point. It levy’s taxes on them for international trade, it isn’t threatened by them, even if they all combined their war effort they’d be no threat to the U.E. and they wouldn’t dare attack it anyway. The U.E. isn’t an outright physically invasive force, it exerts itself through soft power and through subversive methods. But yeah the U.E. Basically just allows them to carry on existing. Thanks man ☺️

Some populations merge into the Horn of Africa to Avoid U.E. rule. Hence the flag change to accommodate the new arrivals. It’s pretty much a semi pan-African nationalist state. Not the Somalia we know today although there are areas of this new nation where that culture survives.

I have a rather complicated history of the world of Humanity Lost planned out. But essentially what happens is the federal reserve is granted emergency powers whereby it is allowed to not only deal in government bonds, but is now allowed to invest in Exchange traded funds, the biggest holder of which is the company Blackstone. Long story short, this series of events leads to the consolidation of power to a central authority and the creation of the command economy. Our society shifts from one of private property and ownership, to one of renting everything. In line with the WEF’s (world economic forum) mantra of, “you’ll own nothing and you’ll be happy.” Power blocks merge under this new centralised authority, the world heads towards globalist neo-communism. As these events transpire, various nationalist movements spring up against this post national new world order and create the nations you see on this map. Obviously I’m glossing over a lot here and I want to create a little alternative history booklet for the pre-ALLMOTHER era starting in 1913.

Interesting map. We would need to know more about the story. I find difficult for leftist countries of South America, China and North Korea to just join the UE. Unless there are some kind of special events or arrangements that, at the same time, Japan does not agree.

Haha yeah they just aren’t giving that place up. Didn’t work for the Macedonians, the mongols, the Persians, the Sikhs, the British empire, the Soviet Union or the US and Nato invasion, so I don’t see why the U.E would favour any better in taking over.
