It's tutorial week and todays upload is about Vocal Chops. How I go about them and my thoughts behind creating melodies with them, and of course a little bit of processing.
I'll dive into my track Alchemy in this video. My methods here are what I would use for all cases of lead vocal chop melodies. This song came about fairly easily after some trial and error (i didnt try to force sounds into a place they didnt want to be in), so it's nice and basic to explain. You can go as wild and complex as you like with these ideas, but also keep in mind that SIMPLICITY is major key. Get the basics down first, and then the more complex ideas will flow more effortlessly and with actual cohesion.
PS. A general rule of thumb for creating; don't get caught up in overcomplicating stuff. People can tell when you've tried too hard at something. Find your groove, find what you're comfortable in. So many of the best melodies are simple and easy for us to follow, but they are effective.
