Hi everyone. This is an update on what I'm planning for May, but first I've posted some new shorts. I don't really post them here because statistically my short-form and long-form viewer bases are entirely different audiences (less than 10% overlap) and you have mostly come from long-form, but if you're interested these are the ones that have come out recently or are scheduled to come out:
🇩🇪 German Leopard Tank Platoons Explained https://youtube.com/shorts/-SqZ7M2dMNY
🇺🇸 U.S. WW2 Armored Infantry Squad Weapons https://youtube.com/shorts/bxP_arofIpQ
🇺🇸 U.S. Tank Crew Weapons: 100 Year History (Scheduled for 20 April US time)
🇦🇺 Australian Rifle Section of Vietnam & Contact Front Drill (Scheduled for 24 April)
🇫🇷 French Infantry Squad Weapons (Scheduled for 1 May)
🇬🇧 British Mechanized Infantry Sections of WW2 (Scheduled for 9 May)
Each short doesn't take too long to make (like 1.5 per day) and I feel like it gives me an opportunity to unload some information on topics I'm not necessarily ready to do a long-form video on (or reuse some previous research). However I never take clips from long-form videos to use in shorts, it's all original animation made for the aspect ratio.
As for long-form, I want to doing some of the battle map or event-based videos coming up. I haven't really done a battle map video since the 2024 April Fool's and not a real one since the 95th Airmobile raid video from May 2023, and I think they are my best videos. I've been in a bit of a rut lately with the purely TO&E videos partially because battle map videos take a lot of time so it's more risk. My life has changed a bit recently though to where I'm more willing to have those longer gaps between videos that the algorithm doesn't like if it means making a good video.
Just to set expectations though because they take a lot of research and more complex animation it could be a 1 high effort video in the month not including shorts. Some battles I'm thinking of covering include the Battle of Abidjan in the Ivory Coast (2011) involving the French and Operation Starlite (1965), which was a combined air-sea assault by the USMC in the first year of Vietnam.
