Today's tune utilizes the Phrygian Dominant scale.
"Bert, what the heck does that even mean?" I hear you say.
It means it sounds like a desert tune!
Some musical scales have so much character to them, that even playing them from start to finish (aka boringly) will invoke certain feelings in listeners minds.
So anyway, I wanted to do a middle eastern kingdom-y sounding tune, so had to bust out that scale for a change. Honestly I always enjoy writing songs like this, even if people feel they are "cliche" or something, they are really satisfying on the composition side of things.
