Methods of Activation:
1. Arcane Ritual (Scholarly Approach)
- Spend 1 hour studying the cube (Arcana DC 18).
- On success, the cube hums and unfolds into antenna mode.
- On failure, the cube emits a psychic backlash (2d10 psychic damage).
2. Psionic Resonance (Mind Over Matter)
- A creature with telepathy can meditate with the cube (Wisdom DC 16) for 10 minutes to "sync" with it.
- Success: The cube bonds to them
- Failure: The cube whispers maddening secrets (roll on the Short-Term Madness table).
3. Blood Code (Cyran Legacy)
- A drop of blood from a Cyran survivor smeared on the cube causes it to unlock instantly.
- Side Effect: The cube remembers the blood’s owner and may occasionally replay their memories as ghostly echoes.
Activated:
- Antenna Mode (Action): The cube unfolds into an antenna (6ft. tall), and gains the following for 1 hour:
- Psychic Network: 1/day While attuned, you can send/receive telepathic messages to any creature you’ve met before, as they are on the same plane as the cube. Messages can be encrypted; decoding them requires a DC 18 Arcana check.
- Telecom Surge: Tap into local communication systems (mindlinks, etc.). You hear all transmissions within 10 miles and can inject false messages (Deception DC 16 to avoid detection).
- Mass Suggestion (1/Day): Broadcast a psychic command to up to 10 creatures within 1 mile who’ve heard your voice before. Each target makes a DC 17 Wisdom save or obeys a one-sentence suggestion (as the suggestion spell) for 8 hours.
Cursed Echo:
Prolonged use (1+ week) attunes the cube to a sectret force (up to DM campaign). Each time you activate it, roll a d6:
- 5–6: The cube learns a secret about you… and shares it randomly.
