I wouldn’t for reasons that Infectedjohn already stated, especially for people close to me. I wouldnt really care if i saw other people doing it though. But i would support it if people were to bring back great minds of great people in history that would benefit humanity as a whole.

Does that makes you less you? I personally believe that if you are conscious and have the same personality and can evolve in it, then there is no difference between a program with your bran and the real person. - Nobody ever gets over death. So why not talk all the things you couldn't talk when that person was alive with his digital version? - Data would be preserved much better in digital brain form - If you download that data and store it into a body, why wouldn't that new person be the original one if it's 100% the same? - Why would be the devaluation of an individual perceived as being bad? Death doesn't have to be a universal truth that we are bound to by our limitations. Just like a normal cold doesn't kill people anymore. - Immortality itself is not impossible, some organisms are doing it and in time we'll achieve it soon. Would you chose death over immortality just because you would consider yourself to be devalued? Same story for the AI. I would like my mind to be preserved as data for later use. But the biggest question could be this. Is the A.I. conscious? Can it make its own decisions just like the original did? Can you bug it with conversation? Does it express emotion to complex situations that have high degree of questionable morality? If the answers are yes, then it's more than a software. As todays scientists say, if a robot would say one day that "I am a person. I am conscious of my own being", then what do you do? By conventional laws you would have to accept that robot as a person because there is no difference between him and you. You both think, have self awareness. It doesn't matter if he's made of metal and runs on pure electricity. You are made of meat and run on energy from food. Energy is still energy. You modify your body with metal/robotic parts but you are still human.

Once that is said i am someone who supports technology and human improvement, developing a brain memory back up might not be as far away as we think and it would be very interesting to see it done once we unlock more secrets of the brain.
