Senku did feel guilty about dragging the village into a war, he just plays it cool similar to when he acted like setting up the giant lit up tree on Christmas was just a coincidence. It's Senku's and Gen's dynamic, Senku acts unemotional while Gen psychologically profiles him and can tell how he actually feels. I think Senku and Gen are actually closer than anyone else in the show, even more than Chrome is to Senku. If the author wasn't so obviously shipping Senku and Kohaku, I wouldn't be surprised if Senku and Gen wound up together haha. What I love is that a lot of the villagers end up being similar to members of a president's cabinet. Gen is a foreign/personal advisor, Chrome is a science advisor, Ruri is a cultural/education advisor, Kohaku is a military advisor, Kohaku's father is a domestic/labor advisor, Kinro is a police/homeland advisor, and etc.
