At this point it's reasonable to assume that the entire royalty/nobility is trying to gain your trust in order to frame you. I mean if Myne went through the trouble of pretending to be molested, she could easily get her younger sister to play an act for her. From Naofumi's perspective, even her being first in line and from the queen could be a lie, there's nothing to confirm it and Myne was able to hide that she was a princess at all. Also making people pay money to join his party is a two-fold check. It's easy to forget it since he has really good party members now, but most of the kingdom still hates him -- spending a large amount of money means that they're not just trying to trick him or rob him. It also ensures their strength and resolve, because if they can't even get 150 silvers then they're probably going to get slaughtered at an actual wave. He's certainly got a colder exterior now that his party is trying to warm up, but everything Naofumi does is very smart and he'd probably be a lot worse off if he was nice enough to just trust everyone that came to him like his party wants. The second half of this season is crazy so strap in.
