Just to give you some context, the only reason why Ais took Asterius' arm out is that he was taken by surprise. If Ais just showed up in his face and they start dueling, it will turn out differently. Asterius' level according to the novel, is estimated as a level 7, just the same level as Ottar. That is why he was able to easily dodge Ais's attack and that is because his level is even higher than hers. Just a quick trivia here about Asterius so it'll help for future episodes.
