Sneak Peek 2: Faerûn

Hello everyone!

It's been a very odd month, with a few major hiccups to mapmaking and working in general, but I’m going to go into further detail on things and the end of the month instead of this post.

Suffice to say things have been very slow but I’ve been slowly chipping away at the Faerûn map and I've now finished the coastlines and mountains! Annnd damn this has been such a slog.

Not to mention I had to do a major rework of large parts of the map (Mainly because I skipped over the fact that the modern world went through the Second Sundering and was drawing the 4th edition version of the map before) and that took a lot of wind out of my sails before continuing to progress.

But now every mountain and range is finished and has now been hand drawn. EVERY single ONE.

It's been a very repetitive process but I think it's coming together more and more.

And now onto the expansive forests across the map! You can see I've started with the Ardeep Forest near Waterdeep in the progress pictures below.

This map will take me a while still to finish and I’m starting to think it might not be worth it.

Mainly because I don't know how well it will be received, shared and enjoyed vs the time it's taken away from drawing battlemaps and assets.

Buuut, I’m going to keep going for now.

The current version of the map is in the downloads, near in mind however its still very much a work in progress. The entire map is 13200x9000 Pixels at 300 ppi or 44x30 inches and just shy of the full A0 size if printed onto paper.

Yes Please!

Is this map ever going to find its way back on your radar?

I really hope you finish this map one day

Me again... I wonder if you could add the Background Paper to your list of assets to share with Patreons? Here is why I ask. I have been using maps in my campaigns recently with three main layers (Photoshop) 1. The Color Map is Background, 2. The Line art on Paper version is middle, 3. The Plain Paper is on top. When I erase the top layer in an area, the "knowledge" areas of the map are revealed to the players, and then when the middle layer area is erased, it shows the "experienced" parts of the map. Having your plain paper layers would make this really seamless to use your maps in this way. Here is an example from the Troll Wastes: https://bit.ly/2QEb75N

I think it's a great map, honestly. Fair question on whether to spend your resources on this or other things that may be more lucrative-- however, I think this has the potential to be a classic.

This map is incredible and would be perfect for my RP needs for years to come. Keep up the good work. Much respect.
