Barton Fink is a statement about the societal... something. I don't know. The meaning has always escaped me too. But I still really enjoy this film. If nothing else it is very apropos to the endeavor of looking at films through the screenwriting lens since our main character is a writer. I like to think this film captures some core essence of what it is to be a screenwriter. And I like to think that someday I will understand it.
