But I know there are a lot of color variations because damn those pins were cheap. I mean they were free and I could sell them for $30 a pop so that's a dream

They hyped up my family so much leading up to giving us our gift that we thought we were getting a free night in a hotel or a backstage tour or something. It was 35th anniversary Mickey ears that were made of cheap felt and plastic. It was nice, but we were all kind of like "oh...thanks"

2025-02-19 03:46:30 +0000 UTCRandom story here…my family went on a WDW trip during YOAMD and while at Hollywood studios we were approached by a cast member and given Dream Fastpasses along with the invitation to be “Extras” during the afternoon’s showing of Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. I was 10 years old at the time and can’t remember exactly what we did on stage but I’m sure there’s home video that can be dug up. Hadn’t thought about this in years but listening to this episode unlocked this memory in a major way!

She used to let me pretend that I was one of her employees to get Disney perks. One of these was the marketing for this. As a "hotel employee in the Disney district", I was supposed to get people hyped about the "dreams". I found out that there were cast members that walked around in special blue shirts handing out these "dreams". I got a free ticket to the park for going to the marketing event and looked for the blue shirts, so that I could could have my "dream" fulfilled, but alas, nothing. Excellent episode!

You got two pins- one to keep and one to give away to someone. I wonder if they were padding out the dream count with that one- my dream for a cheap free pin, my dream of creating “magic” for a stranger and the stranger’s dream of getting a free cheap pin from a stranger?

We’ve also been discussing how/why Buc-ee’s has managed to become basically a theme park gas station.
