Hey there 😊. I waited awhile to comment on this b/c I wanted to sit with it, and have a second listen. Patreon is not cooperating (app or web), so....🙄. I can understand how things on your side could get out of hand and overwhelming very quickly. You are one person, and there are more than 100 Patreons now. That doesn't include people contacting you via YT, Literotica, and any other venues/sites your material is on. Plus, this isn't your full time job right now and you have a life outside all of this 😳. That is a lot to juggle, even when you are super passionate about what you are doing. You need to do whatever you feel is appropriate to set comfortable boundaries for yourself (on social media and otherwise). That is not something other people should decide or dictate for you. In regards to marketing/promotion of yourself as an audio artist. Whatever form your marketing/promotion efforts take is entirely up to you. Again, not something other people should decide or dictate. You don't need to explain any of it. However, you do have lots of willing helpers who's reach could be impressive. We are here and willing to assist in your promotion if you need us. Last of all, thank you ❤. I only listened to 5 mins of your ramble and I'm already pissed off. First of all the persons who told you to man up on social media? You just give me a name and adress and I'll take care of it. YOU DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO DO. Whether you want to tweet every second of the day or just once a year (to wish me a HB of course 🤗) doesn't concern anybody but you. It's your life, your choices. And I'm sick of people deciding for others, or putting expectations on others like they're entitled to have a fucking say in your life. You already give so much, how dare they ask you for more? Second of all, those people judging what you said on tweeter? Are they for real? This is unbelievable, you must be the most giving humain being I know (right after me 😇) and some people are still complaining. You're an amazing man Gael, you have an amazing heart and soul, everybody can see it. Heck I could already see that when I was only listening to you on literotica. And that's what led me to your YT channel and now Patreon. What you do is priceless, and there's no amount of money that could justify expecting certain things from you. You help so many people every day on so many levels, there's nothing I could do or say that could repay you (but I'm open to physical rewards 😁). I can't post on Facebook how happy I am for this year to finally be over, so it's awesome to do this somewhere. The metaphor for 2016 is licking my fingers after fixing my cat's food -- awful and shocking. I'm normally a textbook optimist and need very little encouragement since, "tomorrow is another day," but damn, this year SUCKED! I have watched quite a few online content producers get stressed out from the pressure of "fame" and the expectations of the public, and it's hard to see that happen knowing there's a real person behind the character. It's good to see that you're so self-aware in this situation, and that you're making decisions to take care of yourself and focus your attention on what you actually want instead of fame or following the whims of the public. I think the biggest problem I have with social media is that it can promote the idea that external validation is the primary way to achieve personal satisfaction. I mean, it's great in that it allows people to communicate with one another and express themselves in ways that weren't possible even 20 or 30 years ago. But there are undoubtedly people who've unfortunately bought into the idea that what they present on social media is of no value unless it's liked or retweeted or reblogged by a certain number or type of individuals. And then some people (Tumblr seems to be notorious for this, I've noticed) try to spin in into a popularity contest, and then you're just bombarded by messages/posts that emphasize quantity over quality, and communication via social media tends to become superficial fairly quickly. Or at least that's what I tell my mother to try to dissuade her from getting a Facebook account so that she can keep tabs on me. No one is going to ever get external validation (e.g., that pat on the back) from 100% of the population because you simply can't please everyone. That's why internal validation - being proud of your own accomplishments and being content with what you're doing - is the metaphorical cake rather than the icing. Of course it's a real downer to be criticized by others for doing what you enjoy or believe in, so life becomes a lot easier if you're able to detach yourself from that and focus on pleasing yourself first. Any appreciation, compliments, gratitude, etc. is the icing, the sprinkles, the drizzle of sauce, and the tiny puffs of cream. I was trying to go somewhere profound with this, but now I just want cake. So, happy new year everyone!
