Hallo to Claudia and the Fraugen! No particular weekend plans for me; just trying to get my head back above water with the cleaning and the cooking. I can eat things other than baked goods now! ...Of course, this means I have to wash dishes again... Which is lame. And now, this: <b>Wear the habit or run like a rabbit?</b> — (I'm sorry; my brain got stuck on the rhyme.) Years ago, I would've said "nun" without hesitation. But now I'm not so sure that the Church is the place for a foul-mouthed romance writer who has woven both blatant and covert blasphemy into her projects over the years. I think I'd be less miserable with paparazzi following me around, shocking as that is—assuming that "continuously" here does not have the meaning of "following me into my home/into the bathroom/into bed with me." Maybe then I could get people to pay attention when I tell them to stop their dumbassery. <i>"This is gonna be all over Twitter, y'know, and I can't stop it..."</i> Seems legit. <b>Nosy or noisy?</b> — I'll take the nosy neighbors. Noisy neighbors are hard to deal with because they tend to be very self-absorbed; I spent about half a year in a noise-off with my downstairs neighbors, who started it all by hammer-drilling on their bathroom walls at 11:30 pm when I first moved in. (Apparently, this was the only time their under-the-table workers could come in. Those poor people.) It culminated in me dropping a chair on my floor repeatedly after they had been blaring their music for two hours one night (hard enough to shake my walls)—and when <i>that</i> didn't work (but got me an angry set of knocks on their ceiling in reply), putting in a <i>Star Wars</i> film and cranking up the volume. John Williams fanfares can end a noise war in a hot minute. But I do not have a good relationship with these neighbors as a result. (The mature thing, of course, would've been to knock on their door and ask them to turn things down. But I was nervous about showing my hand as a woman who lives alone to people I didn't know.) There are also times when a neighbor just can't help but be noisy—for instance, if you live someplace where the walls are paper-thin or poorly-designed ductwork carries conversations along with the air conditioning, or if they have kids and those kids are being...well, kids. Then you can't even get mad at them to make yourself feel better. :V Nosy neighbors, on the other hand, can be played to one's advantage given the right parameters. So long as it's not a level of nosy that borders on illegal (like snooping in your windows, digging through your trash, etc), you can leverage it to have them keep an eye on your property when you're going to be away, to get help with hauling heavy burdens up the stairs, or even to give you a ride home from the hospital. Besides, apparently, I'm already living with paparazzi, so they can just join the club. <b>Either way, it's Survivor</b> — I would be miserable in both environments, but I'm going to go with the dating game show. It's a safer environment (physical health-wise) and with any luck, I'd be out in the first round because I DGAF. Of course, knowing my luck, that means I'd make it to the final round because I'm "a challenge" or the producers are trying to build some arc around my "inevitable sexual awakening." <img src="https://s20843.pcdn.co/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/jennifer-lawrence-oh-yeah-thumbs-up.gif"> <b>Busy or bored</b> — Both are stressful for me, but with any luck, the busy-ness would come with a sense of accomplishment, so I'll choose "being too busy." <b>When lightning can't strike twice</b> — I wouldn't even know where to start to produce a song, so I'll say "novel." Sure, I'd like to have more than just one "hit," but one is better than none, and the validity of bestseller lists is a bit of a crapshoot, since some of them still ignore e-book sales. (Why? No clue.) <b>Chameleonic tendencies</b> — I'd rather change my hair color, if I could do it without damaging my hair. I wanted desperately to dye my hair away from my natural blonde in my early teens, and my mother refused to let me do it because "I wouldn't like it." She ended up settling for letting me dye a different shade of blonde, then felt vindicated when I didn't like that color enough to maintain it and I've never even tried to color my hair since because I remember that argument and how small it made me feel.
