Simple and textured layering - Harbinger of Decay part 5

Step by step tutorial for the beige fabric and cold green fabric. Feel free to ask me in the comments about anything in the tutorial! We will conclude this series in December with 3 more parts. Excuse my voice as I am still a bit sick. Enjoy!

Please note - as all video tutorials, this one will be available to the "Legend" tier and up after 30 days

Simple and textured layering - Harbinger of Decay part 5

I see, yup, it's quite important where we start and end the brushstroke. Hope it helps :)

No, it will be fine, I think I understand. I just have to force myself to leave certain areas untouched. With glazing i tend to extend my transitions too much from the deepest shadow to the highlights.

By leaving the basecoat in the recesses I mostly achieve definition (all the elements are separated) this, however, also increases contrast, because the contrast between the recesses and the rest is the highest for a strong separation. If you mean a contrast within a single part (like for example dark shades on the fabric compared to the most exposed parts) it's just a matter of being selective as you apply lighter and lighter layers. If it helps, you can direct me to a particular timestamp and maybe I can clear things up?

There is one thing I dont understand. How do you make smooth transitions without losing contrast ? When I do this it look a bit flat & tarnished. . Is this only due to let your dark base color in the recesses untouched or there is a trick to make your highlights pop ?
